Iyalode’s gang: the background story

Following the declaration of Mr. Yomi Davies that Iyalode is his DD (Darling Daughter), at the just concluded Ibadan Business Festival, a courtesy visit was scheduled for the 6rh December 2022.

Incidentally, Tosin King of Lydrol Photography had come to pay Iyalode a visit, a visit that was expected to be short but turned to a heartpouring (you know, the kind of thing that happens ti awo ba r’awo) 😅.

As Iyalode started to check the time, so as not to be late for the meeting with Mr. Davies, who she has been trying to pin down for over a week, Ogezafe of Opalz clothiers popped in. It was a Tuesday, the cooperative day for Ibadan Business Hub and Opalz simply loves to find Iyalode’s trouble.

On a whif, Iyalode ‘loaded’ them both into the car and headed for Mr. Davies’ residence.

And then a two hour long engagement ensued…it was as if family members who had been apart for some time finally came back together. No one would have believed that most of the people in the room were just meeting one another that same day.

Conversations spanned across many life issues and as the trio bade daddy farewelle, he prompted that the kind of conversation that just occured shouldn’t be put to waste. There was healing in the talk, and substance in the arguments. And right there, he said it might be nice to have a program tagged Iyalode’s gang.

By the way, Mr. Yomi Davies is the President/ CEO of Here and There TV as well as Wells Radio.

The new formed gang was excited and went their separate ways. Shortly after, Tosin left the city (that girl eh…🤷🏾). There were several attempts to do a trial run since none of them had prior radio experience but…you sha know all these Yoruba business women?

Second week of January, the team had a short meeting and decided they needed a male inclusion and Abiola Adeyemi was agreed to be a perfect fit.

Fast forward to Thursday, 19th January 2023, which happened to be the 2nd year anniversary of Jide Obasa’s demise (Iyalode’s dad), the gang members converged at Wells Radio (now Wells FM 89.3, Oluyole).

There was supposed to be a trial run, but the first recording went beautifully well, under the guidance of our father (all the gang don begin share Papa at this stage…life sha 😜).

Right there on the show, more coronation happened 😅. And now we have Otun Iyalode (Oge), Osi Iyalode (Tosin) and Okanlawon (Abiola) 😅😅😅.

Indeed, Iyalode’s gang…or Council as the case may be…is a program to watch out for.

L-R: Yomi Davies, Tosin King, Iyalode, Ogezafe Ibimiluyi (her head must always cut 😅) and Abiola Adeyemi (na photographer decide say na only ipako must show, iyen ni pe, anonymous till further notice 😂)
