The Iyalode

In a bid to Reposition Ibadan, a dream that has become a mission for the Ibadan Business Hub, a sensitization seminar was put together themed NEXT BIG THING.

When the event was over, there was a shift in perspective of all attendees; there was a reconnection made with the ancestral achievements and past glory of the city, and ultimately the need for Ibadan residents and business owners to come together and work as one force and voice to REPOSITION IBADAN.

Dr. Abib Olamitoye was the main speaker at the event; and using his personal experiences, he opened the minds of attendees to a world of possibilities. He presented the truth about life and nature giving to man at birth, adequate resources with the most important one being in equal measures- Time.

From his story, and that of other resource persons, a fact is made known that anyone can have a life wealth and comfort even if they were born into penury, and that with the mind, many doors can be unlocked.

Mr. Seye Oyeleye of Dawn commission was the resource person; he dived into a beautiful and colourful recollection of his childhood memories of Ibadan, what Ibadan used to be.

He spoke of the many great attributes and landmark achievements of Ibadan. Mr. Seye Oyeleye emphasized that Ibadan used to be the center of commerce for the entire south western Nigeria and that it used to be what Lagos is today. He observed that somehow, we got too comfortable along the way and lost grip on what makes us a great city.

He concluded with a charge that it is time for Ibadan to take the narrative back, and rebuild the legacy left by our beloved forefathers and that it must be a combined effort!
